About us
The Ithaca Journal traces its roots to an untitled newspaper first
published on May 1, 1815. In 1823, when the community of Ithaca was
34 years old, the newspaper was named The Ithaca Journal. It is The
Ithaca Journal today, although its name was changed several times
in intervening years. The first daily edition was published in 1870.
The Journal is housed in the same building it has occupied since 1905.
In May of 2000 The Ithaca Journal launched theithacajournal.com.
Our online edition features the top local, national and international
news of the day, specialty pages like e-technology, useful information
about every community and school district in Tompkins County and
a searchable entertainment site. Weather forecasts are updated hourly.
Local classified ads are posted daily in addition to vast banks
of jobs, homes, apartments and cars.
