Atomic Forces

The Atomic Forces have long been of Ithaca's most raucous performers, cranking out frontman Park Doing's to-the-point songs with the fire of the best garage rock and punk bands.

With the Forces' new CD, "Stars Don't Fade," has its expected quota of rockers, Doing also showcases his soft and sensitive side on a few songs such as "New Rock Candle 2." The approach reflects the dichotomy in his personal life--besides being a musician, artist and filmmaker, Doing also recently earned his PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Cornell.

The Atomic Forces, which also include drummer Alan Pauling, guitarist John Harrison and bassist Ami Ben-Yaacov, returs to the Haunt Friday night. They'll be joined by fellow Ithaca garage rockers Candy Pants, metal heads 30 Watts Down and and Corning's Stuck on Goofy.
