Nucleus

A year and a half after returning to their native New York, the members of Nucleus are returning to the warmer climes of Humboldt County, California, where they originally formed the band. Before they go, though, they'll be playing a pair of local farewell shows this weekend: Tonight (Feb. 5) at the Chapter House and Friday at the Rongovian Embassy in Trumansburg.

The band has evolved beyond its jam roots, reverting to a trio format that specializes in what they call "cinematic rock and roll" with touches of breakbeat and dub. Nucleus's upcoming album "The Vibe," recorded live in their practice space, reflects this new direction.
