Sim Redmond Band

Formed in 1999, the Sim Redmond Band has become one of Ithaca's most-popular acts, blending African- and Carribbean-inflected grooves with touches of rock, country and folk. Led by frontman Sim Redmond on guitar and vocals, the band also includes guitarist Jordan Aceto, singer Uniit Carruyo, drummer Asa Redmond and bassist Dan Merwin.

In its short career, SRB has already released three albums -- "The Things We Will Keep," "Good Thoughts" and "Life is Water" -- and Redmond and Carruyo each released solo albums in 2001. The band is currently in the studio working on its latest album, which is due out in March 2004.

Saturday, the Sim Redmond Band returns to Castaways for its annual Thanksgiving show. Opening the 9 p.m. show is fellow I-Town Records artist Crow Greenspun.
