The Sutras

Emerging from long hiatus, Ithaca alt-rockers the Sutras are back with a new lineup and a new CD. Founding members AJ Strauss (guitar, vocals, keyboards) and Derek Tripp (bass) enlisted Jeremy Allen (drums) and Kevin Denton (guitar) for the recording of "Thousandaire." Produced by the band and Matt Saccuccimorano at Newfield's Electric Wilburland Studio, the CD showcases the band's complex arrangements, strong melodic sensibilities, personal lyrics and shifting rhythms.

The Sutras will play a CD release party Saturday night at the Chapter House. Local garage rockers Candy Pants will open the 10 p.m. show. To learn more about the band, visit thesutras.com.
